Family Day at the Special Exhibition

Moor Construction Site – Keeping the Water Where It Belongs: The new special exhibition at the Kaltenbronn Information Center offers a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at the bog revitalization project in the Kaltenbronn Hohlohmoor.Through striking images, the exhibition shows how work is being carried out as part of the Life Project MooReKa—Kaltenbronn-Hohlohmoor Bog Revitalization—to ensure the water stays where it belongs: in the bog. Visitors will learn how so-called “ditch barriers” are built using excavators, wood, and a great deal of finesse—small but crucial building blocks for revitalizing the bog.

The bog is a fascinating habitat—mysterious, quiet, and yet teeming with life. In the exhibition, guests can see how new life emerges from a construction site, how old, man-made ditches are sealed so that sphagnum mosses can grow again, and why these small plants are true climate protectors.

At interactive stations, children can playfully discover which animals call the bog home, how well water can be stored, and what actually makes a bog a bog.
