Aleksandra Mikulska “Chopin in Portrait” – Piano Concert

Honest and personal—that’s how Aleksandra Mikulska’s playing can be described. In her concert, the charismatic pianist aims to open up new worlds and touch people’s hearts with complete devotion—whether through the music of Johann Sebastian Bach, Joseph Haydn, Franz Liszt, or her compatriot Frédéric Chopin. Aleksandra Mikulska, one of the finest Chopin interpreters of our time—if not the very best!! Raised in Warsaw, Aleksandra Mikulska developed a deep love for Chopin’s piano music even as a child; at the 2005 Chopin Competition, she was honored as the best Polish pianist.

She moved to Mannheim, Karlsruhe (Peter Eicher), Imola (Lazar Berman, Michel Dalberto), and Hanover (Arie Vardi) to pursue her studies. Aleksandra Mikulska has performed with renowned orchestras under the baton of Michael Sanderling, Pawel Przytocki, Kaspar Zehnder, Johannes Schlaefli, Stefan Fraas, and Philippe Bach; she has appeared at major venues such as the Vienna Musikverein, the Brucknerhaus in Linz, and the Tonhalle in Zurich. She is a regular guest at international festivals.

As president of the Chopin Society in Darmstadt, German-Polish collaboration is a cause close to Aleksandra Mikulska’s heart. She is also committed to the rediscovery of lesser-known composers from her homeland, such as Julian Fontana, Miłosz Magin, Artur Malawski, and Karol Szymanowski. In addition to her solo repertoire, Aleksandra Mikulska devotes herself to chamber music in experimental arrangements as well as songs from the Polish and German Romantic periods. For her latest album, “Reflections,” she combined the Sonatas in B minor by Chopin and Liszt. Aleksandra Mikulska teaches as a professor of
piano at the Carl Maria von Weber University of Music in Dresden.

Following her magnificent concerts in 2024 and 2025, we’ve managed to invite her back for another concert at our Kurtheater!!
